How INTERACT is Different
INTERACT's involvement with clients, as opposed to regular consulting work, differs in three fundamental ways:
1. Consulting work usually starts with the assumption that the problem is already known, predefined and generic to all context.
At INTERACT we believe there is no context-free problem, what may be considered to be a problem in a given situation may not be a problem in another one. One fails more often not because one fails to solve the problem but because one fails to face the right problem. Therefore, defining the right problem is even more critical than developing the right solution.
2. Consultants are usually identified with a solution for a predefined problem. They are considered to be "problem solvers." Naturally, they assume that the client, by virtue of selecting them, have accepted their brand of the solution. Therefore, the job is to implement their predefined solution with minimum modification.
At INTERACT we believe that predefined solutions are often futile; what may have worked under a set of conditions may not work in a different context. So solutions have to be designed for the specific context; doing the right thing right.
3. In an analytical and specialized world, each consultant is normally concerned with only one area of specialty. They assume that the other parts are working correctly or, if not, somebody else is taking care of them. They conveniently assume that they are the only game in town.
At INTERACT we believe that the ultimate effectiveness of the system is defined more by the interactions among the parts rather than the sum of the actions of the parts taken separately. We start with identification or development of an architecture.
That is why, at INTERACT, we come with a methodology not with any predefined problem or solution; the systems methodology of defining problems and designing solutions. We engage the client to work with us to identify the context, define the right problem, and design the right solution specific to their own context.
Interact and the Challenges of New Realities
The imperative of interdependency, necessity of reducing endless complexities, and the need to produce manageable simplicities, are at the core of a renewed interest in applying systems methodology to deal with the phenomenal opportunity and challenges of the emerging new era.
Three generations of Systems Thinking - Operations Research, Systems Dynamics, and Systems Design - provides the set of necessary and powerful tools to face the following challenges:
Technology Management
Value Management
Change Management
Management of Paradoxes
Interact adresses these challenges by encouraging and facilitating:
ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
